Ferrum Awaits Tornados This Weekend

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard men's basketball team returns to the court this weekend when it treks to Ferrum for a 4 p.m. clash with the Panthers on Saturday.

Brevard, fresh off an 87-78 victory over Berea on Wednesday evening, is in search of back-to-back wins for the first time this season. The Tornados (2-7) are paced by the play of JaMarquis Johnson and Stevie Williams, who are averaging 15.3 and 13.2 points per game, respectively.

In Brevard's nine-point win over the Mountaineers Johnson poured in a game high 22 points, while grabbing 10 rebounds. In Johnson's third 20-point outing of the season he finished 6-of-13 from the floor and 7-of-9 at the free throw line and was one of four players to top double figures for the Tornados in the contest.

Williams, one of two seniors for head coach Lee Burgess, also had a solid performance with 13 points, six assists and three steals. He helped Brevard to finish 30-of-58 (51.7%) from the floor and 15-of-20 (75%) at the free throw line.

Another emerging cog in the Brevard offense has been Levi Lamb, who is averaging 8.7 points per contest. Lamb, who finished with 13 points and 10 caroms against Berea, has had four double figure outings on the season and three in his last six games. Among those include a season-high 16 points in 30 minutes against Methodist, where he finished 5-of-8 from the floor, 2-for-3 from beyond the arc and 4-of-5 at the charity stripe.

Ferrum, who enters the weekend 2-7, has dropped its last three in succession to Averett, William Peace and Bridgewater. The Panthers are led on offense by the combination of Josh Dudley (11.9 ppg), Marcus Huff (11.8), Rashad Reed (11.4) and D'Andre Mullen (10.8).

Opponents are hitting 45.9 percent from the field against Ferrum on the season and the Panthers have committed 143 turnovers.
