Tornados Set to Host Montreat Tuesday Evening

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard men's basketball returns to the hardwood on Tuesday when it welcomes Montreat to Boshamer Gym at 7:30 p.m.

The Tornados, who enter the game in search of their first win of the season, are led in scoring by the combination of Stevie Williams (13.0 ppg), Shelby Parris (13.0), JaMarquis Johnson (12.7) and Divese Carson (12.3).

The senior combination of Williams and Parris, who have scored 39 points each on the season, highlight a Brevard unit that is averaging 74.7 points per contest. Williams has topped double figures in all three contests this season, scoring a season-high 15 in Saturday's 75-65 setback to Huntingdon. Parris' top outing of the season came at Warren Wilson, where he finished with 20 points by hitting five field goals and 10-for-14 at the free throw line.

Brevard has knocked down 75-of-176 (42.6%) of its field goal attempts, while holding opponents to 40 percent shooting (78-194) through three games. The Tornados also have an edge in defensive rebounds (81-78) and blocks (16-7).

The Cavaliers enter Tuesday's contest with a 10-1 record, following a 108-81 victory over Point University on Saturday. Montreat opened the season by winning its first nine contests, topping 90 points on five occasions during that streak, as they average 91.7 points per game.

In similar fashion to the Tornados, Montreat has four players averaging double figures including Alonzo Mobley (15.6 ppg), Jalen White (14.1), Jeron Hemphill (12.5) and Terrell Sheffey (10.6). Mobley has eclipsed the double figure mark on eight occasions for the Cavaliers, scoring a season-high 38 as he went 10-of-18 from the floor and 16-of-19 from the free throw line in a 98-92 overtime win over Allen.
