SWANNANOA, N.C.- Brevard men's basketball had four players record double-digit points in the contest, but fell short in the 108-92 setback at the hands of Warren Wilson on Wednesday night.
Shelby Parris led all Brevard scorers (20 points) in the game, followed by Stevie Williams (14), Jamarquis Johnson (14), and Levi Lamb (12). Brevard's bench also accounted for 28 of the team's points, compared to 26 bench points for Warren Wilson. Divese Carson and Jonas Bradshaw each led the bench with eight points each.
The Tornados (0-2) turned the ball over 13 times on the night, which led to 19 points for the Owls. Brevard was unable to capitalize in that category, as the Tornados were only able to score eight points off of 10 turnovers.
Warren Wilson had two players eclipse the 20-point mark on the night, including Tyquavion Dix (23) and Jordan Gant (21), while the team had six players tally double-digit points in the game. The Owls were also capitalized on efficient passing, as every player who entered the game recorded at least one assist (14 total).
The Owls were also able to knock down 16 3-pointers on the night, compared to six made three's from Brevard. Gant led all shooters with six made treys on the night.
Brevard took their only lead of the game early in the first half, as Williams knocked down the first points just over one minute into the contest. After the Owls took the lead through the first four minutes of action, Brevard managed to tie the game at 10 by way of a jumper from Parris at the 15:49 mark. Warren Wilson regained the lead eight seconds later following a 3-pointer from Dix, as the Owls would stay in front for the rest of the game.
With 1:53 remaining in the first half, the Tornados pulled within five with a dunk from Levi Lamb, but the Owls took an eight point lead at the break.
Warren Wilson led by double-digits for the majority of the second half, as Brevard pulled within five with 10:03 left in the game, after Bradshaw nailed a jumper that he corraled from a defensive rebound.
Brevard returns to action on Saturday, as they will play their first home game of the season at 2 p.m. against Huntingdon.
