Men's Basketball Tips Off Season at Berry

BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard men's basketball team will play their first game of the season on Saturday night, as they will go on the road to take on Berry.

This will be the first of three away games for the Tornados in the month of November, as they will travel to Gardner-Webb (Nov. 21, exhibition) and Warren Wilson (Nov. 29) before Brevard hosts Huntingdon (Dec. 2).

Among the top returners for the team are seniors Stevie Williams and Shelby Parris, who led the team last year with 16.7 and 12.5 points per game, respectively. The pair of seniors played in all 28 games last year, as Williams reached double-digit scoring in 24 games and Parris in 19 games in the 2016-17 season. Williams and Parris also eclipsed 20 points in a single game a combined 15 times a year ago.

Brevard head coach Lee Burgess will also have sophomore guard JaMarquis Johnson back from last year's squad, who was third on the team in 3-point field goal percentage (31.3), and made a team-high six 3-pointers in a on two occasions last season.

The Vikings head into the game coming off a 88-79 loss at Huntingdon on Wednesday night in their first contest of the season. Senior Caleb Johnson led all scorers with 29 points, by going 8-17 from the field, including 4-8 behind the arc.

This will be the first meeting between the two schools since Brevard moved to the NCAA ranks in the 2007-08 season. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
