Former National Football League player and coach Everett Lindsay joined Brevard College in February of 2017 as offensive line coach.

A baseball player growing up, Lindsay rejected overtures to compete in high school football. As a tenth grader, he quit football after only a week of practice. Despite a lack of weight training, Lindsay began putting in time in the weight room, growing into his massive frame. His original impact came in his senior year as a defensive end. With less than a full season of highlight tape and a modest GPA, Linsday opted to walk on at Ole Miss where he was moved to offensive tackle and immediately redshirted, maximizing his time in the weight room. By the end of his redshirt-freshman campaign, he had earned a scholarship and quickly became a mainstay on the offensive line.

From 1991-1992, Lindsay was a First-Team All-Southeastern Conference selection coupled with being named a consensus First-Team All-American in 1992. Anchoring Ole Miss’s line as the blind side protector for the quarterback, Lindsay was drafted in 1993 NFL Draft (133rd overall) and joined the Minnesota Vikings.

In the pros, Lindsay truly showed his versatility by manning every single offensive line position, a feat that is almost unheard of by today’s position specific standards. He was also part of the 1998 team that set an NFL record for most points scored in a season. Lindsay would sign one year free agent contracts with the Baltimore Ravens (1999) and Cleveland Browns (2000) before being reunited with the head coach that drafted him, Dennis Green, when he rejoined the Vikings from 2001-03.

Coach Green would move on to the Arizona Cardinals in 2004 and hire Lindsay in first as assistant offensive line coach before promoting him the following year to offensive line coach. With coach Lindsay’s unit pass protecting, the rejuvenated QB Kurt Warner would lead the league in passing.

Born in Burlington, IA, Lindsay has called Raleigh, NC and Baton Rouge, La. home. He most recently resided in Minnesota and worked at one of the largest Delta hubs in North America at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul airport, overseeing a multitude of personnel and being a leader of men on and off the field.
