Sitting in his high school JROTC class, Randy Finley viewed the second plane hitting the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. It was at that precise moment that Coach Finley was inspired to join the delayed entry program for the United State Marine Corps. Sent to basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina, he graduated MCT (Marine Corps Combat Training) in December 2002, learning weapons handling and patrol tactics.

Selected by the prestigious canine school in San Antonio, Texas to become a handler, Finley was dispatched to Lackland Air Force Base to work with German Shepherds, Czech Shepherds, and Dutch Shepherds, primarily on the detection side, working with both narcotics and explosive-sniffing dogs. Graduating in the top of his class and with numerous missions under his belt, ranging from base patrols to bomb threats at high schools, he also was part of the Marine Corps Marathon advance security detail.

Beginning in 2013, Finley joined Walter Reed Medical Center Wounded Warrior detachment as a section leader and rose to the position of platoon commander overseeing medical treatment for wounded Marines, including substance and alcohol abuse. In addition, Finley served as drug testing liaison. He also accompanied the disabled and veterans via Patient Airlift Services which partners with Major League Baseball to grant wounded, ill, and injured marines travel accommodation to various major league ballparks including Fenway and Yankee Stadium.

Born in New Hampshire, Coach Finely grew up in the Greater Tampa area of Florida. Since 2015 he has participated in the Soldiers to Sidelines coaching seminars and contributed in numerous kid camps prior to embarking on a career in high school football. Working on both sides of the ball at Bishop O’Connell in Arlington, VA, Coach Finely was also responsible for middle school recruiting efforts including Alexandria, Manassas, and the counties of Loudoun and Fairfax. Following two years in private school coaching, Finley joined Stafford High School and helped the team end a decade-long drought to reach the state semifinals in arguably one of the toughest conferences in metro DC.

With Brevard College, Coach Finley spent his first season assisting Defensive Coordinator Kurt Gouveia with individual drills while also running scout special teams and meeting film review with the offensive look team.  In 2019, Coach Finley was promoted to Linebackers Coach for the Tornados.

Coach Finley was scheduled to be promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in November of 2018. He looks forward to completing his degree from Excelsior College in May of 2019. He is the proud father of a son, Liam, who is 9 years old.
