BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College football team (5-2, 3-2 USAS) returns home to Brevard Memorial Stadium on Saturday, November 9, when the Tornados face off against the Averett University Cougars (6-2, 4-1 USAS) in a key USA South Conference matchup. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.

Four Brevard College senior student-athletes - defensive lineman Brandon Crawford, defensive back Quentin Jackson, wide receiver Ralph Roman III, and defensive lineman Josh Romero - will be honored approximately 25 minutes before kickoff on Saturday for their contributions to Brevard College football.

Brevard will look to continue its winning ways following back-to-back USA South victories on the road. The Tornados scored 26 unanswered points and held off a late rally to defeat NC Wesleyan College, 26-20 on October 26 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, before shutting down LaGrange College, 21-3, on November 2 in LaGrange, Georgia.

The Tornados' 26-20 victory over NC Wesleyan was sparked by early offense via two rushing touchdowns from quarterback Dalton Cole, a rushing score from running back Damon Rouse, and a late first half interception return touchdown that went 82 yards by freshman defensive back Rook Tate. Tate's pick-six in BC's victory led to USA South Defensive Rookie of the Week honors for the Gaffney, South Carolina native.

Brevard's well-earned 21-3 triumph over LaGrange was credited to a well-balanced team effort by the Tornados. Brevard's rushing attack, led by a fierce effort from BC's offensive line, tallied a new season-high with 223 rushing yards, while the Tornado defense shut out the Panthers over the final three quarters in dominant fashion. Brevard's offense took care of the ball, as the Tornados did not turn the ball over in last Saturday's contest.

Another interception was added to Brevard's record-breaking ledger last Saturday when freshman defensive back Joc Pledger sealed BC's win with a last-second interception. Pledger has a team-best three interceptions to contribute to a team total of 15. That total leads the USA South and is tied-for-ninth in all of NCAA DIII Football.

The Tornados and their stout defense are set to face yet another high-powered offense this Saturday when the visiting Averett Cougars come to Brevard. Averett's quarterback Jacob Wright is second in the conference in touchdowns (21) and third in passing yards-per-game (210.9). Averett's offense overall ranks third in yards-per-game (386.9) and second in points-per-game (37.5). The Cougars' defense leads all teams in the USA South in sacks (31), led by sophomore defensive end Joseph Ledbetter, who has tallied seven sacks.

Following Brevard's Senior Day contest with Averett, the Tornados will conclude their 2019 regular season on the road when Brevard travels to Greensboro, North Carolina to face off against Greensboro College on Saturday, November 16 at 1 p.m.
