BREVARD, N.C. – Following Brevard College's 28-7 Senior Day victory over Greensboro College last Saturday, the USA South has announced that freshman linebacker JeQwan George has been selected as USA South Conference Defensive Rookie of the Week.
Jackson was selected as the USA South Defensive Rookie of the Week following an impressive outing against Greensboro that included six total tackles, three tackles-for-loss, one sack, one quarterback hurry, and his first career interception.
George currently sits six on the team at 41 overall tackles, while accumulating three sacks and 9.5 tackles-for-loss, both second on the team.
George's selection marks the 10th USA South Player of the Week selection that the Tornados have garnered in the fall of 2018, with football receiving five of these honors.
Football Defensive Rookie of the Week
JeQwan George, Brevard - The Lithonia, Georgia freshman linebacker totaled six tackles, three of which resulted in a total loss of 12 yards, one sack, one quarterback hurry and one interception in a 28-7 win over USA South foe Greensboro. George helped the Tornado defense hold Greensboro to minus-1 net yards rushing on the day. His interception was on Greensboro's opening drive of the second half to preserve Brevard's 21-point advantage. Also Nominated: Julian Cupo, Methodist; Joseph Ledbetter, Averett.
George and the 2018 Brevard College Tornados (3-6, 3-4) will close out their season with a home game against Allen University at Brevard Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17.
