2018 Brevard Football Schedule

BREVARD, N.C. –
Five home games, including four against USA South Conference foes, highlight the 2018 Brevard football schedule.

For the second time in as many seasons, the Tornados open the slate with a clash at Davidson on Sept. 1. After a bye week, Brevard makes its home debut against Allen University on Sept. 15.

The Tornados then take to the road to face Virginia-Lynchburg (Sept. 22) and Maryville (Sept. 29) to complete the opening month of the season.

Brevard hosts Methodist on Oct. 6, the first of three October contest, as they look to improve to 2-0 all-time against the Monarchs. Last season, in the clash of the two teams, Bubba Craven made six catches for 117 yards, including two touchdowns, and Jarkevius Hopkins and Nazayah Brown both reached the end zone as Brevard earned a 41-17 victory. The big moment of the game came when Xavier Brown broke past multiple Monarch defenders to record a 76-yard kickoff return marking the first time a Tornado has returned a kickoff for a touchdown in the program's 11-year NCAA history.

A road game in Huntingdon the following weekend, on Oct. 13, will be followed by a pair of home games against N.C. Wesleyan and LaGrange. As a result of the clash with N.C. Wesleyan, O'Shay Carter set Brevard's NCAA record for most passing yards in a game (499) as the Tornados earned a 58-42 victory.

Carter, who capped off his career day by going 31-of-43 with five touchdowns, shattered the previous passing record of 297 yards that was set by Kye Hamilton against Chowan on Sept. 13, 2008. Senior wideout Tyler Gregory hauled in 14 catches for the Tornados, totaling a career-best 225 yards in the process.

The final game in October takes place when the Tornados host LaGrange (Oct. 27). The Tornados will look to avenge a 38-28 setback that took place a season ago in Georgia.

Brevard closes out the road portion of its schedule on Nov. 3 in Danville, Va., against Averett. The Cougars posted a 41-17 victory in Brevard's 2017 season finale.

The final game of the season takes place at Brevard Memorial Stadium on Nov. 10 when Brevard hosts Greensboro. Last year against The Pride, Carter threw for 277 yards and Craven added 169 receiving yards as the Tornados downed Greensboro 63-7. The win marked the first for head coach Bill Khayat and was the first on the road for the Tornados since they triumphed 69-0 over College of Faith on Sept. 14, 2013.
