BREVARD, N.C. – Riding the momentum of a two-game winning streak for the first time in eight years, the Brevard football team is set to meet Ferrum at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Brevard Memorial Stadium.

The Tornados (3-4) enter the clash against Ferrum with back-to-back wins for the first time since the 2010 season, which came against Johnson C. Smith (25-21) and Southern Virginia (69-7). Brevard's most recent two-game winning streak include a 21-14 victory over Virginia-Lynchburg on Homecoming Weekend (Oct. 7) and a 41-17 triumph over Methodist last weekend.

A Brevard victory over the Panthers on Saturday would mark the first two-game home winning streak since the 2009 season, which came against Chowan and Southern Virginia. In 2009, the Tornados posted a 27-24 win over Chowan (Sept. 12) before downing Southern Virginia 42-7 the following weekend.

One of the keys to the success for Brevard this season has been the ability to convert in red zone situations. The Tornados have tied the number of red zone scores (15) for all of the 2016 campaign through their first eight games of the 2017 slate. Five of those scores have come in the last two games, including four against Methodist, where Brevard scored two touchdowns and converted two field goal attempts.

Senior wide receiver Bubba Craven was instrumental in the offensive success last weekend against the Monarchs, making six catches for 117 yards as he scored two touchdowns. Craven is now within five yards of having more receiving yards than every Brevard unit since the team moved to NCAA ranks in 2007. The 2012 unit accrued the most yards (640) and touchdowns (10) of any team in the last 11 years.

Ferrum (4-2) also comes into the contest on a two-game winning streak, following triumphs over N.C. Wesleyan (17-7) and LaGrange (34-20). The Panthers are led on offensive by the trio of Brian Mann, Zack Clifford and Johnny White.

Mann heads into the weekend ranked second in the USA South in rushing with 795 yards (132.5 yards per carry), while Clifford is fifth in passing yards (1,153) by virtue of completing 87-of-159 passes at a rate of 54.7 percent. White has accrued 464 receiving yards (77.3 yards/game) and scored four touchdowns in his 32 receptions in 2017 to rank fourth in the USA South.
