BREVARD, N.C.
– The Brevard College football team returns to Brevard Memorial Stadium this weekend to host Huntingdon for the first time in program history as part of Parent's Weekend festivities on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Tornados (1-3) head into their second home game of the season in search of their second win in September. Brevard has managed to post multiple victories in the month of September on only two occasions since 2007, when it joined the ranks of the NCAA.

The first time it occurred was in 2009, when the Tornados were a perfect 4-0 over the course of September following victories over Pikeville, Chowan, Southern Virginia and Lenoir-Rhyne, bookending the month with a pair of wins on the road. One year later, in 2010, Brevard replicated the feat by posting a pair of wins at Johnson C. Smith and Southern Virginia.

The Tornados are looking to return to the win column after suffering a 38-28 setback last weekend at LaGrange. Brevard, which has received contributions in all three phases of the game of late, generated 14 of their 28 points by virtue of defensive plays versus the Panthers. The first came when the LaGrange's Connor Blair was picked off by Malik Silva, who returned the ball to the 12-yard line. Three plays later, Jarkevius Hopkins found a seam in the Panther defense for the first Tornado touchdown.

Brevard's second score of the afternoon came via the special teams, which capitalized on a defensive stand that halted LaGrange's third possession of the contest. Special team member Andreas Wyatt streaked past multiple Panther defenders to block Collin Worsham's punt, allowing teammate Nazayah Brown to scoop up the ball at the 32-yard line and scamper into the endzone to give the Tornados a 14-7 advantage.

That marked the second blocked punt for a touchdown in the program's 11-year NCAA history, which dates back to the 2007 campaign. The only other touchdown recorded during a punt return, in that span, also came via a blocked punt.

Meanwhile, Huntingdon (3-1) moved its winning streak to three straight contests after holding off Ferrum by a 31-28 margin to pick up its second USA South Conference victory. The Hawks were sparked by the return of senior quarterback Chip Taylor and never trailed in the game.

Taylor, who was seeing his first action since suffering an injury in Week 2 against Birmingham-Southern, had a hand in all four of Huntingdon's touchdowns against Ferrum. Taylor completed touchdown passes to Jay Davison, Chance Byrd and Garrett Headley in the first half and scored on a 9-yard run in the fourth quarter.
