Tornados Head to Clemson

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard cycling team puts its finishing touches on the league slate this weekend when it heads to Clemson, S.C., to take part in the Southeastern Collegiate Cycling Conference Championship (SECCC).

It marks the third race of the spring for the Tornados, who began in March at Milligan. Two Tornado cyclists, Janelle Cole and Zachary Lowden, battled through high winds, freezing temperatures and rain to reach the podium at the conclusion of the race. Cole placed third in the Group A women's road race, while Lowden grabbed his first collegiate win in the Group B men's road race.

The most recent race took place at Appalachian State, where Scott McGill took home first place in the men's A criterium on Sunday, April 8. McGill was able to finish the race by lapping the rest of the field in his individual victory. The 2018 UCI Cyclocross Women's U23 representative, Hannah Arensman, finished sixth place in her first road race of the season in the women's A criterium. This was her first performance of the season since her cyclocross national championship win in January.
