Brevard Mountain Biking Faces Georgia Tech

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College mountain biking team returns to action after a two-week layoff when it heads to Georgia Tech to compete in an event hosted by the Yellow Jackets at Big Creek Park in Roswell, Ga., set for Sept. 23-24.

The collegiate event schedule is as follows:

Saturday, Sept. 23
9 AM—Individual Time Trial
11 AM—Team Relay
11:30 AM—STXC Men's A
12:05 PM—STXC Men's B
12:30 PM—STXC Women's A
12:55 PM—STXC Men's C
1:15 PM—STXC Women's B
2:00 PM—Collegiate DH

Sunday, Sept. 24
8 AM—XC Women's Collegiate A
8:05 AM—XC Men's Collegiate C
8:10 AM—XC Women's Collegiate B
10 AM—XC Men's Collegiate A
10:05 AM—XC Men's Collegiate B

In their last outing the Tornados enjoyed a successful weekend in a meet with Lees-McRae (Sept. 9-10), earning three first place individual finishes and one first place showing in the team relays.

Carson Beckett led the way for the Tornados individual racers, earning a first place finish in the Cross Country of the Men's A Group. Brevard's Walker Shaw was also among the top finishers in the race, placing sixth in the event.

Beckett added his second first place of the competition in the Short Track event, before leading the way for the Men's Group B Team Relay unit that earned a first place finish over the Bobcats. In the team relay, Beckett was joined by the combination of Walker Shaw, Janelle Cole and Hannah Arensman.

The women's team was highlighted by the performances of Hannah Arensman, Janelle Cole and Samantha Miranda. Arensman capped off the weekend with a second place in the Women's Group A Cross Country event and a third place in the Short Track.

Cole was responsible for a fourth place in the Short Track, while Miranda's performance included a fourth place in the Downhill.
