BREVARD, N.C. – For the third time in the 2019 campaign, freshman LHP Matthew Scavotto has been chosen as the USA South Conference's Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week.
The freshman from Charlotte, North Carolina earned his first collegiate save as he got the final three outs in a 5-4 win over USA South foe Brevard in his only appearance last week for the Tornados. Scavotto allowed one hit and one walk, but rebounded with back-to-back strikeouts to end the game.
This distinction marks the 24th USA South weekly honor garnered by a Brevard College student-athlete this academic year.

Scavotto and the rest of the 2019 BC Baseball team close out their season with four road contests. First, the Tornados head to Emory, Virginia for a rematch with the Emory & Henry Wasps on April 16 at 3 p.m. Brevard closes out its 2019 season with a three-game road series at Johnson University Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee.
