Brevard Takes on William Peace in Final Series of 2018

BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard baseball will go on the road for the final three games of the season, as the team will battle William Peace in Raleigh.

The team will also do their annual head-shaving event, as a partnership with the Vs. Cancer Foundation this weekend. More children die of cancer than any other disease, and of those cancers, brain tumors are the deadliest. Brevard baseball has teamed up with Vs. Cancer, a signature fundraising campaign of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, to give these children a healthier and happier future. You can help by donating here. Proceeds from your donation will fund child life programs at a local hospital and help find a cure for pediatric brain tumors.

SCOUTING WILLIAM PEACE

William Peace heads into the weekend with a 17-18 record, and has been on the losing end for the last three games heading into the series with Brevard. The Pacers' last two contests were setbacks in the USA South Conference tournament, falling to Methodist and Huntingdon. On the offensive side of the plate, William Peace has six players that have tallied double-digit RBI this year, with Alex Allred leading the team in that category with 21.

LAST TIME THEY MET

In a doubleheader between the Tornados and the Pacers back on Feb. 9, William Peace won the first game of the afternoon 2-0 by scoring both runs in the first three innings and limiting Brevard to five hits. The second game of the day had a different story, as Jadon Wooten's walk-off base hit in the bottom of the ninth lifted Brevard to a 5-4 win, with the 'Nados picking up their first win of the 2018 campaign.

TORNADO OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION

During his sophomore season, Ryan Roon leads the team in hits (37), RBI (21) and batting average (.343, min. of 40 at-bats). Teammates Joseph Nelms and Jonte Wilkes also round out the top three Tornado batters, as they have recorded 16 and 11 RBI this season, respectively.

SENIOR PITCHING LAST GO-ROUND

Starting pitchers Drake Black and Tyler Timms will return to the mound for the final time in their collegiate career, as the two right-handers have put up impressive numbers this season. Black sits atop the NCAA Division III ranks with 83 strikeouts this season, while Timms is in the top 25 players in the country in the same category (66). The two have also combined for 13 complete games this season, and each sit one and two in Division III in complete game outings (Black with seven, Timms with six).
