Brevard Set for Next Series Against Berea

BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard baseball will return to the diamond this weekend as the Tornados will go on the road for a three-game series with Berea.

Brevard (2-15) is coming off a three-game series setback to the hands of LaGrange last weekend, a series where the Tornados scored a season-high eight runs as three players recorded multiple RBI in the 11-8 defeat in the third game of the series.

Brevard is getting the most out of their young bats this season, as the top nine leaders in RBI production are either freshman or sophomores. First-year catcher/outfielder Christian Ezzell leads the team with nine RBI, followed by sophomores Ryan Roon (eight) and Donny Carsillo (seven).

Senior pitchers Drake Black and Tyler Timms continue to be reliable in the starting rotation, as Timms leads the Tornados with a team-low ERA (4.73, min. 9.0 innings pitched) and Black continues to lead the USA South Conference in strikeouts with 45 on the 2018 campaign.

Berea (2-17) is in the midst of a 13-game losing skid, with their last win coming against Wright State University-Lake on Feb. 18th. The Mountaineers are led on the offensive side of the plate by Nathaniel Summey, who ranks first on the team in batting average (.333) and hits (25).

The first game of the series will be on Saturday afternoon, with the first pitch set to be thrown at 5 p.m.
