Brevard Falls in Shoot Out to LaGrange

LaGRANGE, Ga.- Brevard set a new season-high with runs in a game this year, but LaGrange prevailed 11-8 in a high-scoring affair on Saturday afternoon to complete the sweep.

Brevard's (2-15) offense was powered by Christian Ezzell, who recorded a three-run home run to tie the game at eight-all in the top of the eighth inning. Ezzell led all Tornados and tied two Panthers for the game-high three RBI, and he was followed in RBI production by Ryan Roon (two), Jonte Wilkes (two) and Drake Black (one).

LaGrange (11-10) was able to take the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, and closer Anthony Elias completed the save to help LaGrange get the victory.

Black was able to split time as the pitcher and designated hitter for the game, as the senior recorded a hit and scored two runs on offense, while throwing eight strikeouts and pitched his fourth complete game of the season.

The Tornados scored their first runs of the series on a two RBI base-hit from Roon in the top of the third, as he brought home Ezzell and Black. Wilkes scored his two RBI on a double in the top of the seventh inning to score Black and Beau Shealy to tie the game at 4.

Brevard will go on the road to complete their road trip next week, as the Tornados will take on Berea in a three-game series, starting on March 17th.
