LaGrange Takes Home Both Wins Over Brevard

LaGRANGE, Ga.- LaGrange was able to earn two shutout victories over Brevard in the Friday afternoon doubleheader between the two schools.

Senior right hander Tyler Timms highlighted the day for Brevard (2-12), as he threw nine strikeouts while allowing only one earned run in his first complete game of the season in the team's 3-0 setback in the second game of the afternoon. Senior pitcher Drake Black was able to take over duties at second base on the afternoon during the second game, and responded by leading Tornados with two hits in the game.

LaGrange (10-10) was powered by strong pitching from Richie Post in the first game, as he allowed only four hits in six innings of work in the 12-0 victory. On the offensive side of the plate, Austin McDade and Rhett Mixon led the Panthers with two RBI each, highlighted by a two-RBI triple from Mixon in the bottom of the seventh inning.

In the second game of the afternoon, a pitchers duel between Timms and Colin Barrett took place, as both players pitched the whole game and there were no runs scored until the bottom of the fifth inning, when LaGrange broke the scoreless tie.

The two teams will meet again for the final game of the series, with first pitch set to be thrown at 1 p.m.
