Warriors Hot Bats Down Tornados

CENTRAL, S.C.- Four different Tornados recorded at least one RBI, but it was not enough as Southern Wesleyan emerged victorious over Brevard 15-5 on Wednesday night.

Brevard (2-12) was led on offense by sophomore Tyler Petit, who recorded his first two RBI of the season in the first inning when Brevard took an early 2-0 lead. Jordan Pruitt, Eddie Mattocks and Ryan Roon each recorded RBI during the game.

Southern Wesleyan (11-9) had seven players record RBI, with Devin Patrick leading the way with three on the night, followed by Jesse Getford with two. On the mound for the Warriors, Tyler Parry recorded a game-high eight strikeouts, while also only giving up three earned runs in five innings of work.

The Tornados took their only lead of the game on an RBI double from Petit to start the game in the first inning, as he scored Donny Carsillo and Ryan Roon. Southern Wesleyan responded with five runs of their own to take the lead in the bottom half of the first, highlighted by Patrick's two RBI base hit.

Brevard's next multi-run inning came in the top of the seventh, when Pruitt brought home Jakob Dennis on his base hit.

Brevard will return to the mound this weekend, as the Tornados will go on the road for a three-game series with LaGrange, with the first game set to begin this Friday at 1 p.m.
