Brevard Set to Take on Southern Wesleyan

BREVARD, N.C.- The Tornados will play their first of seven road games on Wednesday afternoon, as Brevard will take on Southern Wesleyan in Central, S.C. with the first pitch set to be thrown at 5 p.m.

Brevard (2-11) will play its first game since their home series against Maryville, where the Scots earned the three-game sweep. In that series Brevard's bats responded with 11 RBI, the most RBI recorded in a multiple game series for the Tornados this season. Freshman Christian Ezzell also recorded his first career home run in the 7-6 extra-innings setback in the first game of the series.

On the season, Brevard has compiled a .236 BA as a team, with Ezzell leading all players with 20 minimum at-bats with a .366 BA. Sophomore Donny Carsillo has tallied the most RBI on the team with seven on the 2018 campaign.

Brevard's pitching has been led by senior Drake Black, who leads the team with three complete games, ERA among starting pitchers (5.68), and leads the USA South Conference with 37 K's.

Southern Wesleyan (10-9) heads into the game on a six-game losing skid, with their most recent win coming in a 20-8 victory over Piedmont International on Feb. 20. As a team, the Warriors have compiled 19 home runs and are led individually in that category by Julio Justo with five on the season.

In the previous meeting between the two schools, Southern Wesleyan downed Brevard 15-5 in Central, S.C. on April 12, 2017.
