Brevard Hosting N.C. Wesleyan in Doubleheader

BREVARD, N.C.- After going on the road for the first time this season, Brevard baseball returns home for a five-game homestand, beginning with a doubleheader with N.C. Wesleyan on Tuesday, with the first game set to begin at noon.

Brevard (2-6) suffered a sweep at the hands of Huntingdon over the weekend, as the Hawks limited the Brevard bats to five total runs over the weekend. However, there were some bright spots as freshman Mikey Mejias logged his first career home run and senior pitcher Tyler Timms recorded 10 strikeouts.

On offense for the Tornados, sophomore Joseph Nelms leads the team with a .435 batting average (miniumum of 15 at-bats), 10 hits and four RBI on the season. Behind him in offensive production is freshman Christian Ezzell, who second on the team in batting average (.360) and leads the team in triples (two).

The starting pitching duo of Drake Black and Kross Robinson have combined for 39 strikeouts, while Black ranks third in the USA South Conference with 22 K's on the season.

N.C. Wesleyan (6-4) heads into the series taking two of three games against Maryville last weekend, as well as winners of four of their last five total games. The Battling Bishops have played with a potent offense on the season, averaging eight runs per game in their six wins, which includes a 20-8 onslaught of St. Andrews on Feb. 21.
