Huntingdon Completes Sweep of Brevard

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Brevard was unable to earn a tally in the win column this weekend, as the team dropped both games (14-2, 12-1) against Huntingdon on Saturday afternoon in Montgomery, Ala.

In the two games today, freshman Mikey Mejias went 3-for-6 at the plate with two RBI, which included a home run, the first homer of the season for the Tornados. Donny Carsillo also tallied his second RBI of the weekend in the first game of the afternoon.

Brevard (2-6) took an early 1-0 lead against Huntingdon (8-3) in the first inning of the first game off the bat of Mikey Mejias, as he was able to score Carsillo on a base hit. The Hawks would go on to score three runs in the bottom half of the first inning, to build a lead the team would not let go.

In the second game, the Tornados also took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning following the Mikey Mejias homer. On the mound in the second game, Tyler Timms recorded 10 strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work. Timms tied Drake Black for the team season-high strikeouts in a contest.

Brevard will return to Gil Coan Field on Feb. 26 as they will host N.C. Wesleyan in a two-game series. First pitch on Monday is set to be thrown at 2:00 p.m.
