Roon Walks Off Bridgewater on Sunday Afternoon

BREVARD, N.C.- After losing the first game of the doubleheader, Brevard took home the 6-5 walk-off victory over Bridgewater on Sunday afternoon.

In the bottom of the seventh inning with two men on base and two outs, sophomore Ryan Roon was down to his last strike when he delivered a base hit into right field that brought home Donny Carsillo and Christian Ezzell to secure the Tornado win. This game marks the second win this year Brevard (2-3) has walked-off their opponent.

Senior right hander Drake Black threw a complete game, as he tallied six strikeouts and only allowed three earned runs in the ballgame. Bridgewater (1-1) used five pitchers in the contest, as they combined for six strikeouts while not allowing a walk.

Brevard started the game on the right foot, scoring three runs in the second inning led by Eddie Mattocks with a two-RBI base hit to make the score 2-0. The third run of the inning was scored on an error from the Bridgewater third baseman on a Jadon Wooten hit, which allowed Mattocks to cross home plate.

The Tornados added to their lead in the next inning, when Joseph Nelms singled into center field to bring home Ezzell. Nelms leads the team this season with four RBI's.

Bridgewater answered in the fifth inning, scoring three runs to cut the lead to 4-3. This inning started a string of five unanswered runs from the Eagles, as they tied the game in the sixth inning and took the 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh.

Brevard will return to the diamond on Wednesday, as they will host Mars Hill with the first pitch set to be thrown at 2 p.m.
