Tornados Host William Peace in Weekend Series

BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard baseball will host their first three-game home series this weekend against William Peace, starting with a doubleheader on Friday at noon.

In their last outing the Tornados dropped their first game of the season at home against Toccoa Falls on Tuesday, a game in which Brevard led by as many as five runs, only to witness an Eagles rally in the sixth inning to win the game 12-5.

Sophomore pitcher Kross Robinson earned the first start of the season, as the right-hander pitched five scoreless innings while throwing four strikeouts. On the offensive side of the plate, freshman right fielder Christian Ezzell had a productive day  as he went 2-for-3 with one RBI and scored a run on his own.

William Peace (2-1) heads into the series taking two out of three games from Southern Virginia, which includes a walk-off 6-5 win in the first game of their double header on Feb. 3rd. In the three games, junior Alec Allred was red-hot from the plate as he went 9-for-11 with a team-high three RBI's.

Last season William Peace took two out of three games against Brevard in Cary. In the lone win, the Tornados shut out the Pacers 4-0 on Feb. 19th, 2017.

The doubleheader will begin at noon from Gil Coan Field, with the second game taking place at approximatley 7 p.m. On Saturday, first pitch is set to be thrown at noon.
