Jon Cole enters his first year as the Athletics Media Relations Director at Brevard College in 2017-18. 

Prior to returning to his home state of North Carolina, Cole served as the primary contact for the baseball and volleyball programs at Florida State. 

Cole also spent six years as associate media relations director at The Citadel and was responsible for the men’s basketball, volleyball and golf programs.

He gained national recognition for Bulldog basketball in the Houston Chronicle, Washington Post, Rivals.com (Yahoo) and AOL Fanhouse. He compiled the complete history of The Citadel basketball, women’s golf, men’s soccer, men’s tennis and volleyball programs.

Cole also served as a media liaison for NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament games held in the region.

Cole worked at The Citadel after serving as an assistant SID at Presbyterian in 2007-08. In the first year of the transition to NCAA Division I, he served as the contact for Blue Hose volleyball, women’s basketball and baseball teams.  His duties included media guide production, maintenance of department website and compilation of statistics and team histories for all sports.

Cole gained national exposure for Lauren Mason of the PC volleyball program in Sports Illustrated “Faces In The Crowd” and Volleyball Magazine.

Cole earned a bachelor’s degree in English from UNC Greensboro in 2006 while serving as an assistant SID at Greensboro College. In 2014, he added his master's degree of sports management at The Citadel. Cole has also served as the official scorekeeper for several regional and national championship tournaments in basketball, lacrosse and softball.

In 2003 he served as a training camp intern with the Carolina Panthers and subsequently assisted the Panthers as a member of the game day staff for four years. He was the media relations director for the Arena Football League and East Coast Hockey League teams in Greensboro in 2002.

A native of Asheboro, N.C., he is the son of Jim and Jane Cole and has a niece, Olivia.
