BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College Head Football Coach Bill Khayat has announced several promotions and additions for the 2019 BC Tornados Football coaching staff.
"As preparations are underway for our third season of competition in the USA South Conference, I would like to thank the members of our coaching staff who helped to create our team's identity and its record of individual and team successes," said Khayat. "I would also like to acknowledge coaches who distinguished themselves during their past service and will now be assuming greater or more varied responsibilities."
A total of seven assistant coaches return from the 2018 staff with three coaches being promoted to new positions in 2019.
Luke Jaicks, entering his third year at Brevard College, has been elevated to Defensive Coordinator/Cornerbacks Coach. Jeron Gouveia-Winslow, also entering his third season at BC, has become the Special Teams Coordinator/Safeties Coach. Randy Finley, in his second year with the Tornados, has been promoted to Linebackers Coach.
Returning for the 2019 season are several more key members of the Tornados' coaching staff. Eric Gallon returns for his third season as the Assistant Head Coach/Running Backs Coach. Andrew Bather (3rd season, Wide Receivers), Everett Lindsay (3rd season, Offensive Line) and Garrett Kruczek (2nd season, Quarterbacks) all return as well on the offensive side of the ball.
In addition, one new full-time staff member has joined the Brevard College football staff along with four student assistant coaches.
"The staff will also see the addition of coaches, who will bring new ideas and fresh enthusiasm to the program," said Khayat. "What is more important, they will continue to promote the commitment to excellence that is the hallmark of Tornado football."
James Fitzgerald, who most recently was the Head Coach at Douglas High School in Douglas, Ariz., has been named Recruiting Coordinator and Assistant Coach (Fullbacks/H-Backs).
Also joining the staff are four former Brevard College Football student-athletes who will now take on roles as Student Assistants. Rounding out Head Coach Bill Khayat's staff are Caleb Chandler (Student Assistant/Asst. Offensive Line Coach), Bubba Craven (Student Assistant/Asst. Wide Receivers Coach), Axel Easter (Student Assistant/Asst. Defensive Line Coach) and Justin Peck (Student Assistant/Asst. Special Teams Coach).
Two distinguished members from the past two seasons of Brevard College Football have departed BC for new opportunities. Former BC Defensive Coordinator Kurt Gouveia has departed to pursue other opportunities, while former BC Director of Football Operations/Recruiting Coordinator Dynomite Kuhn is now in a similar role at NCAA Division I Howard University.
"We thank Coach Gouveia and Coach Dyno for their outstanding contributions and wish them both continued success," added Khayat. "Their extraordinary commitment to discipline and excellence on and off the field helped to produce record setting individual and team records that have set the performance bar high."
