Brevard College Men’s & Women’s Tennis Announce 2019 Spring Schedule

2019 MEN'S TENNIS SCHEDULE2019 WOMEN'S TENNIS SCHEDULE 

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College Tornados Men's & Women's Tennis teams have announced their respective 2019 spring schedules.

"The Brevard College Tennis teams are very excited for another great season this spring," commented Head Coach Evan Schreiner. "Our schedule has a great mix of new teams as well as some who we played really tough last year. With a majority of our players returning, we are hoping for some great things from both teams"

The men and women will both host eight matches. BC Men's Tennis will welcome six conference opponents, while the women host four conference opponents. Senior Day for both squads will be held on April 6, with the Tornados facing Covenant College.

BC Men's & Women's Tennis begin their spring seasons by traveling to Central, S.C. to match up against Southern Wesleyan University on Saturday, February 2 at 1 p.m.

After a weekend off, both BC Tennis teams will head over to Charlotte, N.C. to face Johnson C. Smith University on Saturday, February 16 at 1 p.m. The Women's team faced Johnson C. Smith during the fall portion of its season, falling 8-1 on October 6.

Both squads then head to Demorest, Ga. for a match against Piedmont College on Saturday, February 23 at 1 p.m. The match will mark the USA South Conference opener for the BC Men's Tennis team. The Brevard College Tornados are eligible this season for a regular season championship along with USA South weekly and postseason individual awards.

The BC Women's Tennis team then returns home on Sunday, February 24 to close out the month of February with a home-opening match against Meredith College, which begins at 11:30 a.m.

Both teams kick off the month of March by traveling to Misenheimer, N.C. to face Pfeiffer University on Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m.

The BC Men's Tennis team travels to Lookout Mountain, Georgia the following weekend to face Covenant College in USA South Conference play on Saturday, March 9 at 1 p.m.

Both squads host their first mid-week contest of the season as Brevard faces Spartanburg Methodist College on Thursday, March 14 at 1 p.m. at the BC Tennis Complex.

The Brevard Men's and Women's Tennis teams will travel to Berea, Kentucky for conference matches against Berea College on Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m.

Both teams will host a mid-week bout against Maryville College on Wednesday, March 20 at 1 p.m. before welcoming different teams over the weekend. The Men's team will LaGrange College on Saturday, March 23, while the Women's team hosts Wesleyan College (Ga.). The matches will take place at 1 p.m.

The Tornados will then host Johnson University (Tenn.) for mid-week matches on Tuesday, March 26. Both the men and women will play at 1 p.m. Tornados Tennis closes out the month of March with weekend matches the Men's team hosts Huntingdon on Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m. followed by Berea on Sunday, March 31 at 1 p.m., while the Women's team hosts Agnes Scott on Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m.

The BC Tennis teams open April up on the road against conference for Maryville College on Wednesday, April 3 at 1 p.m. before returning home for the senior day festivities at the BC Tennis Complex on Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m. against Covenant College.

Both BC squads make one final road trip, traveling to LaGrange, Georgia to take on LaGrange College on Friday, April 12 at 1 p.m. before venturing further south to Montgomery, Alabama to face Huntingdon College on Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m.

Coach Schreiner and the 2019 BC Tennis teams return home for their final regular season matches against Piedmont College on Tuesday, April 16 at 1 p.m.

The Tornados have already concluded the fall portion of their schedule. The BC Men's Tennis squad (0-1) dropped its only match to Montreat College, 6-3, while the Women's team competed in three total matches. BC Women's Tennis traveled to Spartanburg, S.C. to compete against Converse College and Johnson C. Smith University, dropping 6-1 and 8-1 decisions before returning home on October 13 to defeat Montreat 7-2.

BC freshman Elanor Flanery and Senior Tom Mittring led the way for the Tornados in the fall season. Flanery secured singles victories in every one of her three matches, while Mittring secured a single and doubles victory over Montreat.
